Forever Young BBL

Forever Young BBL™ is an innovative technology that utilizes light therapy to target and reverse the signs of aging and sun damage.  Broadband Light (BBL™) utilizes pulsed light energy to heat the upper layers of the skin stimulating new collagen.

A groundbreaking study on Forever Young BBL… Stanford University study reveals Forever Young BBL can restore gene expression of aged human skin to resemble much younger skin.

We start to lose collagen starting in our late 20s, which leads to a loss of elasticity and the formation of lines and wrinkles.  By stimulating new collagen production, we slow down the aging process and leave the skin firmer and smoother.

In addition, targets such as fine vessels or pigmented lesions absorb the light energy, destroying and eliminating it from the skin. The result of Forever Young BBL™ is a youthful, refreshed, and rejuvenated appearance. BBL uses low-frequency photothermal energy to safely and gently heat deep layers of skin. Damaged cells absorb this energy and are stimulated to generate new collagen – an important building block of healthy-looking skin. BBL uses a broad range of energy wavelengths to allow for more complete improvements and evenly-treated skin. A thermoelectric monitoring system adjusts the temperature of your procedure, eliminating the need for pain medication and ensuring that you remain comfortable during treatment.

The procedure is gentle, noninvasive and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anesthetic but your clinician may choose to use it on more sensitive areas.  Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a warm or light “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take a few minutes to a half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Your clinician will discuss all of your options with you.
Depending on what area of the body is treated, one treatment takes 30-45 minutes.
The number of treatments needed varies from patient to patient and your clinician will personalize a treatment plan based on your skin and the level of improvement you desire. Your clinician may also combine your treatment with other popular aesthetic procedures to further enhance the outcome.
Any area of your body can be treated. The most popular treatments are on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.
An active tan from the sun or tanning beds is not appropriate for treating with BBL. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure in the area to be treated for a period of 3 weeks prior to treatment with BBL.  Self-tanning lotion must be faded from the skin for at least a week to 10 days prior to treatment.
You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. Pigmented lesions will darken and gradually flake off and fade over the next 7-10 days. Often your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores begin to be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your skin’s condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated.
This is a noninvasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of your activities immediately.

It is important to follow the aftercare instructions that we will provide to you prior to leaving the office.  Proper skin care products will be recommended based on the skin treated.  It is recommend that you use Avene Thermal Spring Water for its cooling and healing properties.

If you must go outdoors, it is recommended that you cover your treated skin and use sun block of at least SPF 30.
